Brendan Meyer added To ‘Ender’s Game’

2 min read

The casting game continues with Gavin Hood’s Ender’s Game adaptation and an interesting if small role has been confirmed over the weekend as Canadian teen Brendan Meyer has joined the production to play the role of Stilson. The character was one of the key ones early on to putting the lead of Ender Wiggins onto the path he follows, so it’s not a huge role but one that has to be carried off right because of how its portrayed. Meyer joins the formally cast Asa Butterfield in the lead and reports continue of actors Hailee Steinfeld and Ben Kingsley in talks to join the production as Petra and Mazer Rackham respectively.

With the feature set to arrive on March 15th, 2013, casting news is likely to ramp up after the holiday season which will be the next big telling point for fans who want to see how true they’ll go with the casting of key roles such as Peter, Valentine, Graff and especially Bean.

Plot concept: In order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race’s next attack, government agencies breed child geniuses and train them as soldiers. A brilliant young boy, Andrew “Ender” Wiggin lives with his kind but distant parents, his sadistic brother Peter, and the person he loves more than anyone else, his sister Valentine. Peter and Valentine were candidates for the soldier-training program but didn’t make the cut–young Ender is the Wiggin drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training.
