‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Trailer Debuts – Can It Salvage The Franchise?

2 min read

Having been one of the people that contributed to the $300 million theatrical box office of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and laughing throughout a lot of it, there’s a lot of work to be done to salvage what was a real childhood pandora of imagination with toys, characters and comics as well as the TV specials that let me create a fascinating world with my friends. Those days are long gone and I get to play in the comics and movies now and the first movie screwed up so many things (but got some things right) that the sequel has its work cut out for it. With John Chu behind the directors chair, it at least looks like it has the potential to do what really needed to be done; trim it down, put in a few key quality stars and work with a small cast and a much more distinct and apparently globe trotting storyline. The nearly three minute trailer released below, well in advance of the June 29th, 2012 release date, should go a long way towards easing a number of fears.

But I swear, I see one power suit…. someone’s going to get their rear kicked.
