FUNimation Talks ‘Black Lagoon’ & ‘Hellsing Ultimate’ Blu-ray Anime Releases

2 min read

The latest ANNCast has hit and this time they’re talking with the folks at FUNimation about various things that they have in the works and other fan questions. Of particular interest was the discussion of two very big name titles that have done well over the years with Black Lagoon and Hellsing Ultimate. Things were broken down well with these releases, though details aren’t really there at the moment and won’t be until they’re fully official so that fans won’t get their hopes up in case things change somewhere along the way. First, they’ve announced that they do indeed have the high definition Blu-ray rights for Black Lagoon.

When it comes to Hellsing Ultimate, there’s a lot of curiosity about how FUNimation will handle this release due to the fact that Geneon had released the first four parts in single disc form on DVD only. According to the interview, FUNimation is intending to release the eight episodes in high definition on Blu-ray.  They will probably release the first four in a box set and they did confirm Blu-ray rights for them. They will likely then follow up that box set with OVAs 5-8 individually in quick succession, which you can imagine would get a box set release itself further down the line to match the first half.
