With things starting to ramp up for the planned summer 2013 release of the sequel to the 2009 reboot of Star Trek, we’re getting more casting rumors coming out of the woodwork. While Abrams has confirmed that Benicio Del Toro is set for the role of the villain in it, all we know beyond that is that the original cast is returning with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin. And we know that Abrams is getting things going with the writers, Damon Lindelof, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. But we also want to know more about who else may appear, and from what’s being said via Variety, Abrams wants to bring Alice Eve in for some unspecified role. It’s quick and easy to imagine that she’d be the new female foil for Kirk, who was pretty unattached in the first film, though not for lack of trying to bed Uhura, who ended up going elsewhere.
Naturally, nothing is firm at this point and the trade is reporting it simply as she’s a person of interest, not that she’s been offered anything or accepted anything.
