It’s a few months away, with a planned January 20th, 2012 release date, and that means it’s time to start cranking up the marketing machine. The folks at Screen Gems have let loose with the next piece of promotional material by bringing out a new teaser poster for the fourth installment of the series, which marks the return of Kate Beckinsale in the lead role. The new $65 million feature is written by Josh Hlavin with the screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski. The third installment had a budget of $35 million and made $91 theatrically without Beckinsale back in 2009 while the second installment had a $50 million budget with her and brought in $111 million. Expectations are decent for the feature as they tend to do very well on home video and aftermarket releases through other distribution channels.
Plot concept: Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
