The Pieces Come Together: Warner Greenlights ‘LEGO’ Movie

2 min read

The folks at LEGO have definitely been having a good run for a lot of reasons the last few years and it certainly looks to expand. Warner Bros. in particular has worked closely with the LEGO folks to produce numerous games based on their properties and next year sees the release of DC Comics properties in LEGO form as well. Now Warner is set to start working on a 2014 release of a hybrid live action/computer animation movie utilizing LEGO, where 20% of it will be live action. The plan is to have it directed by the writer/director team behind Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The animation side of it is going to be handled by animal Logic, the folks behind Happy Feet. And just to add a bit more to the pot, they’re also bringing in Chris McKay as a co-director. McKay has long been a Robot Chicken director so he’s the ideal one to add a little extra flavor to it as well as understanding the basic dynamics of what makes LEGO, well, LEGO. \

According to the piece which is light on details, the feature is expected to be an action/adventure piece set in the LEGO world and casting for the voices will begin in January.
