Eight ‘Hunger Games’ Character Posters Debut

2 min read

Through a variety of sources, Latino Review has put together all eight of the known character posters for the March 23rd, 2012  release of The Hunger Games, headlined by Jennifer Lawrence. The film, whose sequel is already greenlit and moving into pre-production, is based off of the trilogy by Suzanne Collins. We’ve had several looks at some of the cast and a number of the Tributes over the course of the summer, but this is the first time to see some of them all dolled up, so to speak. Most of them fit the general vibe of things that one might have imagined (Peeta doesn’t for me, for example) but there are some that definitely stand out here. Effie, played by Elizabeth Banks, gives us the first look at the nature of those that live in the Capitol while Haymitch, played by Woody Harrelson, shows us a survivor of the games years down the road. Harrelson still doesn’t feel like he has the look that I had in my mind for the character, though I’m eager to see his take.

Plot concept: In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in the Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidations of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch.
