‘The Secret World of Arrietty’ Poster Debuts

While The Secret World of Arrietty debuted in Japan from Studio Ghibli back in July of 2010, bringing in some $126 million on its $23 million budget, it’s not set for release in North America until February 2012. But the marketing campaign for it is slowly getting underway though it’s not expected to be a huge campaign. With the previous Ghibli film of Ponyo being a rather lackluster performer at the box office, bringing in just $15 million (out of $200 million worldwide total and debuting at #9 the week it came out in the US), it’s hard to see Disney wanting to put much effort behind it and instead just go through the motions before getting it out on home video eventually. That said, they are doing the base marketing by getting the first promotional poster out there for it.


Check out the UK trailer which has a different actress portraying Arrietty (Saoirse Ronan from Hanna; the US dub will feature Bridget Mendler from the Disney series Good Luck Charlie as the lead):
