The opening salvo for September isn’t too much of a surprise when it comes to these charts as the new releases of some of the early summer titles are making their way into the market. The top two positions are identical and for good reason as it has two very good movies there with X-Men: First Class and Hanna shoring up their spot in the opening week. Of course, TV sales are big in this arena too so the high ranking for both The Office and Sons of Anarchy isn’t a surprise, nor is it to see Two and a Half Men charting so well along with others. Rio continues to hold on well but that’s going to start dropping as well, both for sales and rental soon enough. The rental chart has a few different things going on here with some other new releases showing that aren’t ratcheting up the sales, such as Something Borrow and Everything Must Go. To my surprise, Paul is holding out there too while its “sister” release in Your Highness has fallen off completely.
