Top DVD Sales & Rentals For September 4th, 2011

There’s a lot of change on the charts this week, especially when it comes to the DVD buying side of it, as the TV releases do a solid job of dominating the charts as people continue to say that they want to own their favorite shows. After a lot of the summer being fairly static outside of a few bursts, we’re seeing the TV dominate now with new releases of Sons of Anarchy, House, Dexter, Vampire Diaries and even the Phineas And Ferb movie. Which we admit to watching with our kids and laughing with. Unsurprisingly though is what grabbed the top spot on both charts with the latest from Tyler Perry bringing in the buyers and renters with Madea’s Big Happy Family. It may have zero appeal to me, as do the majority of his works (and we’re curious to see how he does as an action star if things pan out), but there’s a lot of love for what the man does. After that, the familiar titles are on both charts as Rio and Priest continue to do well and a real favorite with Soul Surfer holding on strong. The rental side is proving to be the only home for certain new releases though as that’s they’ve fallen out of the DVD sales chart this week for Paul and Your Highness, two very crude (and fun) stupid genre movies.
