Netflix Adds More Anime With ‘Starblazers’, ‘Macross II’ And More

2 min read

Netflix is continuing to beef up its streaming service, and really needs to in general now that the tiers are split and they’re expecting more growth from the streaming side than the DVD/BD side (and they do have the data to prove it). This week is seeing the movement of more anime onto the service as several series, old and new, are now being added. The big one that will play to the nostalgia side is Star Blazers, though it only has the tab at the moment and can’t actually be added to the queue nor as of this writing do we know how much is being added. On the new side, Sentai Filmworks has slid over their new release of Demon King Daimao to the service as well. Of course, you can stream it but you can’t rent the discs from them.

If you need some more classics to check out as they actually get added for playback, the old series Descendants of Darkness from Central Park Media is on the list as is the very old Manga Entertainment release of the much maligned Macross II. Manga also has the release of Tactics getting ready to roll out there as well. And for those that need their Japanese/Canadian coproduction material, definitely take the time to check out Spider Riders.
