‘Die Hard 5’ Directors Shortlist Revealed

2 min read

Plans for Die Hard 5 seem to be coming together a bit more these days. Recently we had Bruce Willis talking up MTV at Comic-Con that pre-production was imminent on the feature with everyone eager to move on the property and we’ve also had Noam Murro exiting the production to go do 300: Battle of Artemisia for Warner Bros. pictures. So we have a studio that wants to do it, an actor that wants to do it and no director. That means the inevitable shortlist leak that may be accurate but could also be just a wishlist someone jotted down on a cocktail napkin. Still, the choices that are listed are definitely ones that could potentially bring something different to the table, even if the feature does appear that it will take place in Russia for a change of locale. The list so far includes Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), Justin Lin (Fast Five) and John Moore (Max Payne). It’s hard to imagine Lin taking it on since he’s pretty tied up in other things, including a new Terminator film. The other three seem like they may be a bit more open to it just based on scheduling, unless other things really ramp up. Refn would be an interesting choice in comparison, but he looks like he might be pretty set to get the Logan’s Run “closer to the source material” reboot launching as well. Could Cornish and Moore have the best shot? Especially as Moore has a lot going on at Fox?

Who would be your dream director?
