Otakon Aniplex Panel Report

2 min read

The second of the Big Two summer conventions is underway with Otakon and Aniplex USA is definitely making some news that will excite many and provide some caution and hope for the future with the studio. They covered a lot of familiar ground that we saw at Anime Expo, which is normal amongst all the studios since they’re less than a month apart and it’s always good to talk up the new announcements and cement them more.

For new things, Aniplex USA has announced that Oreimo will arrive on DVD in a complete box set in October. The release will feature all twelve of the TV episodes and all four OVAs across three DVDs total with English subtitles and the clean versions of the opening and closings for all episodes. They’ll also be including sixteen ending card postcards, a double sided poster and a 24 page booklet of character designs. The set will MSRP at $74.99 and have the special store price of $59.99 at the Bandai store and Right Stuf. The series will also get put up on Crunchyroll, Crackle and Hulu with two episodes a week starting August 31st, but will not include the OVAs in this streaming presentation. [Official Site]

Madoka Magica will be receiving a dub for its release.

Aniplex USA revealed that they are in negotiations for Welcome to the Space Show, which was announced a few weeks prior by Manga Entertainment UK for release in the UK. They also indicated that they are looking to see what can be done to bring the new Rurouni Kenshin TV series to the US as well.
