Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto! Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce the first of its creator lineup for San Diego Comic-Con 2011! Tsuneo Goda, creator of beloved NHK mascot turned cultural icon Domo, will make an exclusive appearance at the largest comic book and popular arts convention in the world on Saturday, July 23rd.

Following the discussion, Goda will be on hand to sign Dark Horse Comics’ exclusive Domo Qee figure at the Dark Horse booth #2615 at 3:30pm.

Beginning his career directing television commercials, Goda soon found success with animation when he developed Domo for Japanese public broadcaster NHK. Domo’s unique look and personality quickly catapulted the character into one of the Internet’s biggest sensations. As the reigning poster child for personalized, user-generated content, Domo has found a home within the online community with hundreds of thousands of fan-made images, websites and videos posted to websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Flickr, among others.

Now more than a decade later, the lovable fuzzy brown creature’s cult status continues to grow with product flying off retail shelves as well as a popular Facebook game called “Planet Domo” available at http://apps.facebook.com/planetdomo.
