Media Blasters Confirms Second ‘Bakuman’ Season

2 min read

Media Blasters has confirmed with Anime News Network that they have acquired not only the first season of Bakuman which ran for twenty-five episodes and ended this past April, but also the second season that’s scheduled to start airing this coming October with another twenty-five episodes. The company announced yesterday that it licensed the property with the intent to release it on bilingual DVDs this fall with the first release containing seven episodes at what is presumed to be a lower price, similar to how Queen’s Blade 2 was broken up into two parts for $24.98 each and were bilingual as well.

Plot concept: The anime series Bakuman was created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and artist Takeshi Obata, creators of Death Note. Bakuman is a far cry from that supernatural thriller, instead it’s the semi-autobiographical tale of an artist and writer team trying to make it in the brutal Japanese anime and manga industry! The genius of Ohba and Obata shines in this compelling race through the world of publishing, from the very bottom to the very top. Not content with showing glimpses into the industry, they go for all-out panoramic views packed with insider details. Anyone who’s interested in anime and manga or has dreams of working in comics and animation needs to see Bakuman!

  1. makes you wonder how long the manga really is. It looks like media blasters thinks bakuman is going to be the next Genshiken title for them- cant really say i blame them though with the success of deathnote
