Sony Pictures Entertainment has slid in a new anime announcement with a movie that premiered in Japan at the end of April this year that got little notice from Western anime fans, since it wasn’t easily accessible to most. Legend of the Millennium Dragon, released as Onigamiden in Japan, is coming to a Blu-ray/DVD combo from Sony on October 4th with a list price so far of $45.99. No features or specs are as of yet listed as this is just a first blush look at what the studio will be putting out. It’s pretty likely that like their other anime films released, it will get a limited theatrical window as well. The feature was directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki who directed, scripted and storyboarded Spriggan years ago and did the same for Naruto: Legend of the Stone of Gelel.
Plot summary: Based on a two-volume novel series by Takafumi Takada originally called Onigamiden, this historical-themed feature revolves around the war between demons and humans in the former Japanese capital of Kyoto, 1200 years ago during the Heian period.
Hey Sony, put out the 5th and last dvd for One Piece.
