AIC has certainly had its ups and downs over the years as an anime production studio, but they in one form or another have been responsible for some of my formative shows. They’re back this season with a new show called R-15, based on the light novels of the same name by Hiroyuki Fushima and Takuya Fujima. The new twelve episode series deals with a young man named Takuto who has a very, very special ability. He can write porn novels. And this is useful because he’s attending Hirameki High School, which only accepts people with unique talents. So now he’s in there focusing on his talent, which he tries to apply with his classmates, as he builds a perfect harem.
The series is being directed by Munenori Nawa, who really surprised me last year with Fortune Arterial, which he also directed. Mostly he’s been involve with key animation production on many series, but he also handled the direction for Otoboku and Da Capo Second Season, so there’s definitely a curiosity as to what this will be like coming from him. He’s working off of a series composition by Sumio Uetake, who did similar work with Burn-Up Scramble, Shattered Angels and Destiny of the Shrine Maiden.
Only one promotional video has come out so far for this series.
