Summer 2011 Anime Preview: Kami-sama no Memo-cho

2 min read

J.C. Staff is generally a pretty busy and diverse production company and one series that they have hitting this summer is Kami-sama no Memo-cho, which is based off of the light novel and manga series of the same name which literally translates as God’s Memo Pad. The original work was created by Hikaru Suguii, who has several works to his name since his debut in 2005. This series began in 2007 and has six volumes running so far with more in the works while a slow moving manga series in Dengeki Daioh began in 2010, resulting in just one volume released so far. The light novel series has seen decent sales in Japan with over 500,000 sold to date from the six volumes.

The new series will be directed by Katsushi Sakurabi who has handled a few shows before in this capacity as well as working on animation and storyboarding for several series. He’s most likely known for his work in directing Gunparade March and Lunar Legend Tsukihime. The series composition for this show is being handled by Seishi Minakami, whom we talked about recently as he’s doing the work for No. 6 this season as well.

Kami-sama no Memo-cho deals with Narumi Fujishima, your typical high school guy who feels and is isolated from others in his class. Things change though when Ayaka Shinozaki invites Narumi to join the gardening club and he comes into contact with a reclusive detective named Alice. She hires Narumi as an assistant and put him to work solving mysteries.
