Manga Entertainment UK Confirms ‘King of Thorn’ Blu-ray

2 min read

Manga Entertainment UK was asked via Twitter today about a few titles and their plans for them with Phantom, King of Thorn, Tiger & Bunny and Strike Witches coming up about their UK titles, some of which were talked about only briefly at the recent MCM Expo. Events haven’t progressed too far for them, but based on what Manga Entertainment has said before about Blu-ray in the UK, their confirmation of King of Thorn for Blu-ray makes sense since it’s a standalone movie. The other titles are all series which is something that has been a very hard sell in the UK with even big popular titles like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Shying away from titles that lose money on the Blu-ray format makes the most sense. But one-off theatrical features work perfectly.

Now, if only King of Thorn was getting a US release. Or Manga UK sets it for region A/B….

Plot summary: Kasumi and her sister, Shizuku, were infected with the Medusa virus, which slowly eats away at the body. There is no cure, and Kasumi is selected to go into a cryogenically frozen state along with 159 others until a cure is found. In the undetermined future, Kasumi awakens to find herself and the others in an unfamiliar world with bloodthirsty monsters. Kasumi struggles to survive in a treacherous world in order to unlock its mysteries and learn the fate of her twin sister.
