30 Days Of Anime Challenge – Day 16

2 min read

When it comes to anime, there’s a whole lot of attacks out there and trying to pick a favorite can be pretty difficult since there’s so many variations and circumstances. The sixteenth day wants you to pick your favorite anime attack and I have to admit that it’s pretty hard to think of one. Having seen so many shows over the years, it does blur when it comes to some of the specifics like this though there are things that stand out. Ranma 1/2 has lots of various attacks and Urusei Yatsura allows for a whole lot of fun with Lum and her lightning bolts. Add in all the heavy fighting shows that are so specific with their moves and mecha shows that call out their attacks and the list is monstrously long. And that’s not even taking Dragon Ball Z into account with what it does for fights and attack scenes!

What doesn’t surprise me is that when I do start to really get down to it, the ones that stick out the most in my mind are all related from Gainax shows. There are so many personal level fight scenes and attacks out there but it’s the ones that go to an epic level that really win me over because it uses such an immense amount of power. The attacks scenes in the original Gunbuster were big contenders for me and that brought me to the updated and more intense Diebuster scenes. There are so many great attacks in Neon Genesis Evangelion in both the TV series and various movies that qualify as well. But what it comes down to is that one stands out about all others for me as being my favorite attack scene because of the scale of it. And that is the beauty that is Gurren Lagann.
