Paramount’s 2012 plans are a bit shaky at the moment as rumors are circulating that the Star Trek sequel may get bumped due to the time involved with the effects needed, and that means their G.I. Joe sequel is becoming more important. With most of the cast being excised in favor of a slimmed down piece with John Chu on board to direct, word out of Hollywood via Deadline is that they’re approaching Dwayne Johnson to take on the role of Roadblock for the feature. Johnson hasn’t exactly been out of favor, but with the positive results enjoyed by Fast Five this year and his participation in that, getting him back to more of an action marquee name is definitely a positive since he pulls it off so well.
