The folks at Publisher’s Weekly have managed to score a bit of a coup today as they have a real first here in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics to provide a brief preview of the latest manga from CLAMP, Gate 7. The new series by the well known team is due out in the US in its first volume on October 25th and several pages have been posted to their site to be checked out. The series is one that kicked off in Japan in December of last year with a one-shot and then began its serialized run in March. The group has earned quite a lot of recognition over the years for such high profile properties as Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa, xxxholic and more so there’s plenty of attention be paid to this new series. Plot summary: Gate 7 is the story of high school student Chikahito Takamoto, who is visiting a legendary shrine in the city of Kyoto when he stumbles into a mystical realm. He meets Hana, a beautiful child-like female warrior, and her two mystical companions, who invite him to join them in battles to protect the world from horrific supernatural beasts. While Chikahito isn’t quite sure about fighting supernatural forces, he’s definitely made up his mind about the beautiful Hana.
