International audiences are getting their first look at the trailer for the David Fincher adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but said trailer has yet to make it online for American fans to check out yet. What has come out, via World of Entertainment, is the first image of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander for a photo shoot that was done for W magazine. It’s not an image from the movie itself, but it does show what she’ll be playing and gives clue to how Fincher is approaching it.
Plot summary (novel): Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families disappeared over forty years ago. All these years later, her aged uncle continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander. Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption.
