It’s been off the radar for a bit but things are progressing on the Cinemax front with their planned twelve episode series for The Transporter. The latest news via Deadline is that the series has cast its lead actors with Chris Vance taking the leading man role and Andrea Osvart for the female lead. Vance has been acting since 1998 with a few credits to his name and has been seen on a number of interesting series in the last couple of years with a multiple year run on All Saints as well as Prison Break and Mental. Osvart has been working her craft since 2000 and has a lot of small credits and TV movies to her name with some four to five releases each year, though no regular TV work on a series. She has multiple miniseries though.
Plot summary: The series centers on professional transporter Frank Martin (Vance), a role played in the movies by Jason Statham. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Frank can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. Osvart, repped by Innovative and Mosaic, will play Frank’s handler Carla, an extremely crafty former CIA operative who organizes his missions, acts as his eyes and ears on the outside, and continually stokes the flames of their unrequited attraction.
