Wth the upfront presentations done and things shown to the advertisers, the clips and promos are all starting to make their way online and the one new show from The CW that’s genre in nature is The Secret Circle. I’ve been following this one lightly since the pilot was first announced and it’s been a fairly quiet and under the radar piece that felt like a safe low budget pickup for the CW to complement The Vampire Diaries and The CW has naturally put the two together in a block on Thursdays. With the loss of Smallville and the adjustment of the schedule, this one can definitely have some time to grow if it can keep some of the lead in’s audience.
The Secret Circle is working with mostly lesesr known and unknown actors which can make it a hard draw at first, but potential good word of mouth and its ties to The Vampire Diaries will certainly help. The main cast at the moment is rounded out with Britt Robertson, Thomas Dekker, Gale Harold, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Shelly Henning, Louis Hunter, Ashley Crow and Natasha Henstridge
Plot summary: Based on the book by The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith, The Secret Circle centers on a young woman (Robertson) who moves to a new town and discovers she is a witch — and a part of a secret coven. She’s also the key that will unlock an old battle of good vs. evil.
