First Poster For ‘The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn’ Released

I’ll admit it, I’m pretty damn scared of this movie. With Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson behind this feature, it has the potential to be pretty impressive, but it has to live up to a whole lot. While Tintin has never been a huge character here in the US, it’s a significant force overseas along with a few other graphic novel properties for decades. I grew up with Tintin as it was published by Little, Brown in the US and my father worked for them, so we always had easy access to all the latest international (and space!) adventures of Tintin, Snowy and the Captain. With this being a 3D motion capture piece, it’s probably the only way that it can really be brought out this way other than the usual animation methods, but those would look strangely dated at this point, as much as I’d love to have faithful adaptations of them.

The 2D and 3D (+IMAX) movie is set to hit on December 23rd so it can appeal to families for the Christmas holiday with the motion performances of s of Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook being captured.

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is the first in the series of 3D motion capture films based on the iconic character created by Georges Remi, better known to the world by his pen name “Hergé.” The film stars Bell as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure. The movie adapts both Hergé’s “The Secret of the Unicorn” and “Red Rackham’s Treasure,” using the title of the former.
