First Image From ‘Three Musketeers’ Released

With the film set for an October 14th North American release, the production company behind the 3D incarnation of The Three Musketeers has released its first image with the group on hand. The image brings together Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans and Logan Lerman as the titular swashbucklers Athos, Porthos, Athos, Aramis and D’Artagnan.  In addition to them, Orlando Bloom plays the Duke of Buckingham,Christoph Waltz Musketeer nemesis Cardinal Richelieu and Mads Mikkelsen plays Rochefort. And with this being a Paul W.S. Anderson film, Milla Jovovoich has a role as M’lady De Winter.

Plot summary: The hot-headed young D’Artagnan must unite with three formerly legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers to prevent a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.

  1. Hmm. Depends really on whether they do this as an earnest and serious adaptation of the original novel or make it bit more humorous like the 1970s film adaptations. Actually a little humor goes a long way, as the later 90s versions largely disappointed, bring plodding rather than brisk and entertaining.
