Jeremy Renner continues to be a sought after lead for a number projects, and one that he’s been talked about for a bit now that seems to be getting closer to reality is taking on the lead role in The Bourne Legacy, which would be the next installment in the series but not about the Jason Bourne character. In this film, Renner would play an assassin who went through the same thing that Bourne did but with different results. Very little is known beyond that and the title, and that it won’t be using the actual book that the title comes from.
Tony Gilroy is attached to direct after working as the screenwriter on the original three and working as the writer and director on both Michael Clayton and Duplicity.
The original trilogy of movies have brought in a combined worldwide theatrical box office take of just under a billion dollars.
