1 min read

One of the more anticipated and feared castings has arrived as Warner Bros. has announced that Michael Shannon will be playing the role of Zod in the Zack Snyder update of the franchise with Superman: Man of Steel. We’re also now seeing in the press releases out there that this is the formal name of the movie, though it could always change. Shannon has a pretty lengthy career with work dating back to 1993. He received a number of nominations and a few awards for his work in Revolutionary Road and spent twelve episodes worth of time on last years season of Boardwalk Empire. DC Comics fans may also remember seeing him play the role of Doc Cross Williams in the 2010 release of Jonah Hex.

“Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role,” according to Zack Snyder.
