This Is Not The ‘Miss Marple’ You Know

1 min read

In a case of “why even bother,” Disney has acquired the rights to make Miss Marple movies from the Agatha Christie classics that began way back in 1927 in novels and then in the 60’s via Murder She Wrote. Diney’s adaptation of Miss Marple is set to contemporize the stories, which is a given, but they’re going to bring the age down significantly as Jennifer Garner will not only be producing the first film adaptation, but also starring in it. Since bringing them into the present and making Marple so much younger, you have to ask why not just create something new, even if it riffs off the classic, especially when the majority of younger moviegoers haven’t a clue who Miss Marple is or Agatha Christie and the project will only get grief critically because of the changes?
