New ‘Green Lantern’ Trailer Attached To ‘Thor’

2 min read

Ah, cosmic irony. When Marvel’s Thor lands in theaters in May, there will be a number of trailers that will be before it to highlight the summers bigger offerings. One that will make some fans snicker and giggle is that their competition, DC Comics, will have its tentpole character of Green Lantern get its new trailer premiere at that time. According to the LA Times via Collider, the studio is working hard at the movie but has found quite a challenge with the 3D and special effects, stating, “The movie’s intricate 3-D visual effects, including numerous scenes set in space and featuring aliens, are taking longer than anticipated.”

With a June 17th date, the marketing side has to start cranking up though and a kick-ass trailer, one that has to appeal both to mainstream moviegoers (many of whom I know rather liked the first trailer) and those that felt the first one ruined the character.

Plot summary: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. The movie also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins.
