Amy Adams Gets Lois Lane Role In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’

2 min read

It’s turning into a good year for Amy Adams, who just had her run at the Oscars with a nod for her work in The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. Riding high off of that and looking for her next project, The LA Times is now reporting that Zack Snyder has offered her the role of Lois Lane in the new Superman movie to be directed by him and produced with Christopher Nolan for Warner Bros.. Snyder made the call to her from Paris where he’s promoting Sucker Punch this weekend and had nothing but good to say about the actress who has risen to prominence with The Fighter but also recent movies such as Julie & Julia and Enchanted.

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

There’s been some doubt on how big of a role that Lois Lane would have in the new feature and Snyder has been very, very vague in talking about the film in total, but the Lois Lane role is one that is largely considered essential to some degree to make any Superman movie at this point.

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes.  That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”
