Timu Bekmambetov has certainly some fans over the last couple of years and the movies he produces gets a second look that they might not ordinarily. One of them that’s looking to be fairly divisive in the way movies like Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield are is Apollo 18. The movie is currently set for an April 22nd release (no updated theatrical posters are out yet) that’s being directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, which marks his first English language film. The film has a very small budget of just $5 million and is likely to recoup that fairly easily and has the potential to make some solid money if it hits the release date right depending on what the competition is and how well it’s marketed.

Plot concept: A found footage style film about a fictional post-Apollo 17 mission to the Moon that takes on a premise of why we never went back. The plot involves a government cover up of the Apollo 18 mission after aliens on Earth’s Moon discovered the crew and began to kill them off one by one.
