Katy Perry is set to be on How I Met Your Mother, according to a new update from Zap2It today. The pop singer has been making plenty of news just this week alone with her wins at the People’s Choice Awards but also for her turn in the Simpson’s recently. The episode for Perry is set to air later this season called “Oh Honey” as she plays Zoey’s cousin who is quite naive that the gang takes to calling “Honey.”

How I Met Your Mother has been somewhat controversial this week as it brought about a very serious moment that was rather telegraphed early on. In addition to that, they also tied a strong gimmick into the episode with a series of numbers counting down from fifty to one (or zero if you count the CBS logo at the end) that took us from the comedy to the serious mode. Fan reaction has been mixed as to whether such a gimmick belonged in the episode, but in re-watching it I found that it was a positive thing since it gets you to watch an otherwise difficult episode again and that the end moments are just as powerful even when you know it’s coming. Counting down the numbers to the “Bad News” itself is an interesting trick that I think helps the episode stand out even more than the “gimmick” of the bad news itself.
