‘Captain Earth’ Gets New Anime Trailer From Sentai

2 min read

Captain Earth Header CrunchyrollIt’s been about five years since Sentai Filmworks brought out Captain Earth and I think we all forgot about it. So much so that a complete collection of the two-cour series was never put out on Blu-ray, which is kind of surprising. Sentai’s brought a new trailer out for the show as they never had one on their channel and I wonder if it’ll cause a complete collection to be produced now. The series is still available via retail outlets and Sentai direct as well as streaming via HIDIVE.

The 2014 anime series was directed by Takuya Igarashi based on the series composition by Yoji Enokido. Satoshi Ishino adapted Fumi Minato’s original character designs and also served as the chief animation director. BONES handled the animation production work.

The main Japanese cast includes Ai Kayano as Hana Mutō, Hiroshi Kamiya as Teppei Arashi, Miyu Irino as Daichi Manatsu, and Rina Hidaka as Akari Yomatsuri.

The opening theme songs include #”Believer’s High” by flumpool and “TOKYO Dreamer” by Nico Touches the Walls while the ending theme songs are “Amethyst” by HANA star. Ai Kayano and “The Glory Days” by Tia.

Plot concept: When Daichi Manatsu sees a mysterious rainbow appearing near the Tanegashima Space Center, he immediately recognizes it as being similar to an apparition that formed when his father was killed in a mysterious accident years earlier. Traveling to Tanegashima, Daichi quickly finds himself involved with the machinations of Globe, a secret agency created to defend mankind from extraterrestrial forces. And while it might seem like a big job for a mere teenager, it turns out that the skills Daichi has honed on video games, combined with a special weapon called the Livlaster, make Daichi ideally suited for operating the Earth Engine Impacter, a giant robot that may be Mankind’s best hope against aliens whose goal is to completely drain our world’s lifeforce energy. Fortunately, Daichi won’t be on his own, as he’s quickly joined by a group of equally dedicated young people who all have their own skills and abilities to contribute to the battle. The war for our planet has begun, and the fate of Humanity will rest on a handful of teens as Daichi takes command of the Earth Engine and assumes the mantle of CAPTAIN EARTH!
