‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Home Video Release Scheduled

Helping to revive the largely awful summer box office take, Guardians of the Galaxy landed this past August with a $94 million weekend debut and went on to bring in $320 million in North America and $325 million overseas. It’s moved up to the third biggest box office take for a Marvel Studios movie and now it’s getting ready for a home video release. That’s happening on the newly announced date of December 9th, 2014 where it will be and 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand. Early digital-only editions in HD and 3D will be available as well on November 18th, 2014.

Marvel’s let loose with a new Blu-ray trailer as well.

Directed by James Gunn, the feature brings together Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Batista, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Gregg Henry

Plot concept: Brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
