It’s a good time for fans of the Magimoji Rurumo manga as it’s now getting a second anime adaptation in the form of a two-part OAD series with the current manga property. The new incarnation looks to be bringing back the staff and cast from the 2014 series for this as well. The two episodes will be released with the manga next year beginning with the ninth volume of the manga that lands on July 9th, 2019. The second part will have a date later.
This series comes from the same creator as Yowamushi Pedal, which has gone over quite well. Originally running for seven volumes after starting in 2007 before completing in 2010 (which also gave rise to two more successive series from the same property),
The previous series back in 2014 was directed by Chikara Sakurai based on scripts by Mariko Kunisawa which will be animated by JC Staff. Character designs are set to be done by Kazuno Iwakura. The Japanese cast for that incarnation included Suzuko Mimori playing Rurumo, Makoto Takahashi as Kota Shibaki, Misato Fukuen as Chiro, Shizuka Ishigami as Sumiko Inoue and Yurika Endo as Tanako Kujirai. Newly revealed actors include Juri Nagatsuma as Maaya Sawashita, Mari Shiraishi as Kyōko Izumi, Minami Takahashi as Masako Shimomura, Junji Majima as Sempai, Hiro Shimono as Nishino, Haruki Ishiya as Sugawara and Yusuke Kobayashi as Sakurai. Series lead Mimori handled the opening theme for the series while Yurika Endo performed the ending theme.
Plot Concept: The story focuses on Kōta Shibaki (the #1 pervert of his school) and some magical tickets that suddenly arrive for him. Rurumo, an apprentice witch who was demoted from a full witch, is training with these tickets in the human world. Shibaki can use these tickets to grant wishes that Rurumo must perform as part of her training. The catch is that each used ticket shortens Shibaki’s life.
