What They Say:
The childhood friends Akkun and Nontan are boyfriend and girlfriend. But Akkun is always saying ridiculously harsh things to Nontan as well as being cold with her and is frequently moody. But that’s just how Akkun expresses his love for Nontan. This is a high school love comedy about Akkun and Nontan, who doesn’t seem to care at all about how Akkun acts toward her.

As the show has focused across several characters recently, this one keeps it mostly to Akkun and Nontan at the start where we get a bit of a flashback to when she would follow him while wearing her sailor uniform. One of those times involved her helping him when he wasn’t feeling well and she ends up getting things he needed to feel better, including a green onion plushie to cuddle with. It’s ugly-adorable but exactly the kind of thing that you know would mean a whole lot to Akkun as time went on. SEeing them a bit ago in how they interacted and how it feels a little restrained since he’s sick is a nice change of pace and again reinforces that he does care for her as much as she does, just in his own bad awkward way.
In Summary:
A sick Akkun makes up most of this flashback episode and it works nicely to show something from a bit ago with how their relationship was, making it more obvious just how much it has changed. It’s cute and simple with Akkun displaying plenty of his awfulness but it also highlights their bond in a neat way with the titular item. It’s still not a great series and I think it could use an extra minute at least so as to not overly rush the ideas and dialogue, but it’s different from a lot of other shows and that’s what will often draw me in.
