The Weekly Movies Discussion Post For September 2nd, 2018

2 min read

With a lack of going to the movies still in effect as I find MoviePass just too frustrating combined with high humidity and temperatures that have kept me from wanting to go out much, it’s been quiet on the movie front this week.

With little in the way of movie news there hasn’t been a lot that’s gotten me really excited to get into anything either. With my kids back this weekend we ended up watching Deadpool 2 since they didn’t get a chance to see it theaters (way too much out at that time back in the overloaded month of May) and it was a good kind of anything goes raunchy comedy to watch.

I’ve spent some time pulling older films to have running in the background while working and that’s made for some good moments and some cringey moments. I revisited The Haunting and was reminded why I haven’t seen it again in almost twenty years.

I did pull out Mamma Mia to watch as it’s been forever and I hadn’t realized that the groom in the film was Dominic Cooper. Seeing him ten years ago when I had mostly just seen him in Marvel stuff at the time was hilarious since it’s such a difference from his current work in Preacher.

I also had some background MCU playlist material going this week and that was essentially going through the back end of Phase Two with Doctor StrangeSpider-Man: HomecomingBlack Panther, and then Avengers: Infinity War. Some days make it easy to just let that playlist unfold and you see more of the threads that bind them together.

Sadly, this week had no new digital purchases on iTunes as nothing from my wishlist ended up on sale nor where there any surprise must-haves.
