Originally serialized in Flappy! Sugar Babies from the April 2014 installment, Flappy Cat is a twenty-page story from creator momi, who has over ten other stories on the service as of this writing. It’s my first experience with their work and they’re one I can definitely see checking out more of in the future. Interestingly, I think their artwork is the type that really does depend on how you view it. While I do most of my viewing in a “fit to height” format on my screen on my desktop, momi’s artwork is very busy with a lot going on and some really good detail that feels too much when viewed that way. When I shifted to the original size and basically did it more as a panel by panel view, it felt less compressed and busy and a lot more fun in the flow.
The premise for this is simple enough in that we’re introduced to our nameless lead that’s simply called Mister who is having a bad start to his day. With such reliance by so many on their horoscopes, his being a Gemini means he’s going to have a bad day today according to it and that has him on a downer. It seems to come true on the train when he loses his balance and ends up groping a young woman because of it, which gets the accusations out there. To his good luck, however, the girl named Nana ends up running with him off the train and back to his place. She’s wanting to crash there for a bit after a fight with her boyfriend and Mister basically plays the nice proper man who is trying to help out and simply be nice. The problem is that Nana is basically hanging around his place with her guard down entirely and essentially sexing up the place (it is hentai after all).
Amusingly, she discovers some his porn easily that reveals something different than his demeanor and she decides to play with that a bit, which means lots of stuff without actual penetration as she wants to see the real him. It’s very active and busy with how momi illustrates it but it captures the kind of writing nature of Nana during it all. Naturally, her bringing him to climax doesn’t stop him from wanting more and it turns aggressive here in a an awkward way but it moves to the next step and gets even more intense. The whole thing becomes ramped up passion with both of them seemingly having the best sex either, which plays out beautifully with the artwork here. Again, panel by panel mode for it works really well in capturing it all without having all the other panels in view simply because of how busy they are.
In Summary
My first experience with a Flappy! Sugar Babies work is definitely that, an experience. I really like the artwork and the amusing bit at the end that comes from the wrap up of it all definitely makes you grin as Mister was really suffering. I do wish that momi had a bit more in terms of character/story material to it but the intent is to get to the “good stuff” as quick as possible and that’s what they do here. It’s not poorly done but I just wanted a bit more from both characters to enhance it all the more.
