Discotek Media hs picked up another intriguing acquisition with the 2001 anime series Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier – back in the fall of 2017. There’s been a lot of interesting discourse over the months about some of the problems they’ve had but they’ve now updated with their plans for it and have expanded it out a bit. With a lot of glitchy tapes for source material, they’ve been piecing together a variety of different sources to build it out. And now they’ve also revealed that the set will include the Cyborg 009: God’s War.
Update on Cyborg-009: We had to file a materials request with Sony in order to get the master tapes. Over 1,000 tapes. We used US, AU, and JP DVD footage for reference, because a lot of the tapes were damaged. But it's coming, promise! pic.twitter.com/RMiM5UJsfT

The show was a more modern attempt at bringing Osamu Tezuka’s manga to life after the original series in the 1960’s. The series will be coming out on DVD and a Standard Definition version on Blu-ray as no high definition materials are available to them.
The show has some pretty twisty paths to being licensed that are worth checking out here.
