So far, Hybrid Heart hasn’t offered anything new or unique to the powered battle suits genre of mecha battle stories. However, it does offer plenty of nudity and surprising scenes of titillation! Basically, it is Kizuna’s job to recharge the girls Hybrid Heart score after a battle. This will keep the girls battle suits fully charged so they can successfully fight off the Otherworlders. And how better to power up their score than to use scandalous amounts of groping!
At this point of the story, Aine and Yurishia have accepted Kizuna’s ability to power charge their Gear scores, but Himekawa is so against it that her score has yet to recover since their last battle. Himekawa is a high-ranking member of the Morals Committee after all. She spends her free time stomping around campus breaking up anything the students may be doing that is deemed immoral. It isn’t surprising that she would be so against the idea of Kizuna using his Eros ability to recharge the girl’s Gears.
Kizuna doesn’t have to try to sexy up his time with Aine, but Himekawa is going to take a major effort. He decides to join the Morals Committee and help Kimekawa in her attempt to clear the school of everything immoral; from porn mags to kissing behind the bleachers. But will that be enough to melt Himekawa’s frozen tsundere heart?
It better be enough, because a woman from the other world appears in Guam wielding a Gear suit more powerful than those Kizuna and the girls have! This Otherworlder also has a three-headed mecha dragon doing her bidding!
In Summary
There are plenty of super-powered teenager stories out there, and many of them involve mechs. The genre is also overflowing with boring dudes surrounded by women running the gamut of ‘dere’ character types. The trick for a story to separate itself from the pack is to offer some angle that is less common. Hybrid Heart manages to stand out with its blatant offerings of nudity and sexual situations that go beyond the standard accidental bath mix up scene. I was surprised to see how far this volume went into the commander character’s push to get the male protagonist and female fighters to “power-up” their battle suits. Fun stuff for any fanservice lovers and the sexy character designs are a compliment to the storyline.
