Ruby Rose Set As Batwoman For ‘Arrowverse’ Crossover

2 min read

With the potential for a series of her own and a pilot set for later this year or early next year to be worked on, the upcoming Arrowverse crossover on The CW has revealed their Batwoman with Ruby Rose. The addition of Rose to the overall shared universe is a big one as she has quite the following on Orange is the New Black and adds a bit more star power to the whole thing. With a role in The Meg coming up later this month, she was also recently seen in John Wick: Chapter Two and Pitch Perfect 3.

The premise is being laid out thusly: “In Batwoman, written by Dries based on the DC characters, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

The character originally showed up in 1956 in Detective Comics #233 and has had a lot of animated appearances over the years, as well as her own ongoing series and a really great interpretation that kicked off the Bombshells digital-first comic series.
