Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the September 2018 installment, Class Reunion for Two is an eighteen-page story from creator Netoro Morikon, who has two other stories on the service as of this writing. It’s my first experience with their work and it’s definitely something that piques a certain area for me. Morikon’s artwork feels like it comes from the 80’s in a way, reminiscent of some of my favorite older shows and manga, but that also comes from a different feeling. The way the designs look and the flow of the intimacy action all comes across with a kind of rawness and rough edge aspect about it where you can imagine it being feverishly illustrated, like exorcising a demon with intensity to get it from the mind’s eye to the page.

In terms of story, Morikon has a bit more to work on here as there’s more just implied than said and it’s a little problematic. It focuses on the pairing of Ryou and Yuu, two classmates that are in a bar together years after school has ended. How they reconnected here is not revealed but it’s clear that Ryou has had a lot to drink and she’s egging on Yuu a lot about the past. She clearly wants him even in this state but goes on about how anyone will do since none of the good guys are left anymore. They clearly have a strong bond in the past with each other and her seeming forgetfulness upsets him because it meant a lot to him. His protective side has him taking her back to her apartment so she’d be safe but even here she’s egging him on and kind of putting him down a bit about the past, why they broke up, and bringing up the things that she remembers from then.

Naturally, the goading gets him to reveal that he’s definitely interested in her in a very hungry way and they end up stripping down hard and fast. Because of Morikon’s art style here there’s a real sense of sex and sensuality about it, the sweaty kind of experience where it’s just almost guttural and primal. There are cute moments along the way with how they interact with each other but it also really highlights a craving and need on both their part. Her teasing him does continue at times but she’s getting what she wanted from the start and he’s made it clear that she’s exactly what he wanted. Morikon’s artwork delivers some really intense scenes with how they move about and reposition that it feels like it’s very different from a lot of other works based on that alone, never mind the actual style of artwork.

In Summary
If the setup had been stronger I would be recommending this a lot harder but even without that it’s worth checking out just for the art style. There’s a lot to like with it here as we get these former classmates and former lovers coming back together again and ending up in a way that could make for a really strong future for the both of them if they can expand on the sexuality side of it. Morikon’s artwork is very much the draw here and it’s really great, the kind that I could read several times over just to soak up all the details of it and still be left wanting a whole lot more.
