Diane Guerrero Boards ‘Doom Patrol’ As Crazy Jane

2 min read

The upcoming Titans TV series on the DC Universe digital streaming service got a lot of attention earlier this year when they started casting for the Doom Patrol group of characters from the comics. They’re a part of the project that shows up several episodes in and now it looks like things went well enough that DC Universe has green-lit a series of their own. That series is continuing to flesh out its cast and Diane Guerrero has joined the project as my favorite character of Crazy Lane. She’s described as “an unlikely hero suffering from the world’s most severe case of multiple personality disorder. Each of her 64 distinct personas manifest a different super power making Jane the Doom Patrol’s most powerful member…and also its most unstable.”

Guerrero came to attention for Orange is the New Black as well as on Superior Donuts.

Planned for a thirteen episode run, it’ll go into production with the cast that’s introduced in Titans with plans for a 2019 debut on the streaming service. Check out the concept for it below.

The cast includes Bruno Bichir as Niles Caulder, Jake Michaels as Robotman, Dwain Murphy as Negative Man, and April Bowlby is playing Elasti-Girl.

While this new series will be live-action, check out a couple of nods to the cast done several years ago for shorts on Cartoon Network.

Plot Concept: The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

So exited for this! ? #doompatrol #crazyjane @dcuniverse
