‘Deadly Class’ Gets SDCC Trailer

2 min read

We got our first taste of the Deadly Class show back in May 2018 with the teaser trailer for it that caught a good bit of attention and a new trailer landed during SDCC this weekend that showcases more of the setup and the action/violence for it. We learned back in April that the series that began at Image Comics back in 2014 and comes from Rick Remender and Wes Craig had gotten a series order from Syfy. The project comes from Sony Pictures TV and Universal Cable Productions and includes Joe and Anthony Russo involved on the producing side.

The series stars Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval.

“We’re committed to developing graphic novels for SYFY and have found a rich, compelling, truly unique world in Deadly Class,” said Bill McGoldrick, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, back in April. “Our producing partners expertly combined high school angst, 80s nostalgia and comic flair into a beautifully realized, visually arresting pilot that truly brings Rick and Wes’ acclaimed comic series to life.”

Property Concept: It’s 1987. Marcus Lopez hates school. His grades suck. The jocks are hassling his friends. He can’t focus in class. But the jocks are the children of Joseph Stalin’s top assassin, the teachers are members of an ancient league of assassins, the class he’s failing is “Dismemberment 101,” and his crush has a double-digit body count. Welcome to the most brutal high school on earth, where the world’s top crime families send the next generation of assassins to be trained. Murder is an art. Killing is a craft. At Kings Dominion School for the Deadly Arts, the dagger in your back isn’t always metaphorical.
