With things getting more serious with Yui after some good time together, the way things unfolded left her in a bit of a panic simply because of how she was surprised. But moving forward in the relationship in a more physical way also has her scared because of how it would change their relationship, which makes sense on a certain level. And we see that as time goes on her uncertainty has lead to him not being around much, claiming work and all. That has her comically hiding to follow him to see what he’s up to but she’s pretty bad at it and so meek afterward – which he implies easily enough – that it just further reinforces what a terrible relationship this is and how bad the invisible male lead is in it, which is us, a controlling and dominating type.

In Summary:
One Room plays to standard male leading roles in a lot of ways when it comes to relationships and I honestly have no clue as to how realistic it is in reality there, presuming it to be just as varied as here overall. What we get here is Yui voicing her concerns, getting shut out, potentially told a cover story, and then given grief for being out after dark on her own. Suffice to say, with this show putting the viewer in the leading male position, it becomes a very frustrating experience to see such a bad version of “myself” moving forward like this, regardless of the appeal of the quality animation.
