What They Say:
The year is 1555, the middle of the Warring States period, and one young man holds on to a very big dream. That young man, known as an empty-headed fool, is none other than Oda Nobunaga. Enchanted by his dream, a certain young girl who admires Nobunaga swears that she will become his ninja one day. Nobunaga has one goal: to unify Japan by military might! Decorated by a colorful cast of characters, including the airheaded Kichou, the errand boy Hideyoshi, the tsundere Nene, the straight man Mitsuhide, and the half-dead Hanbei, this heavy-hitting wartime gag anime is about to begin!!

The push against the enemy here is pretty nicely laid out at the start as we get more of the “age of guns” getting underway as Nobunaga orchestrates a way to surround the fortress but still attack and weaken them. The push to eliminate the Miyoshi Three moves forward well and it’s interesting to see Kennyo getting the abuse he does from his significant other to try and motivate him to really standing up against Nobunaga in a big way. What helps is that Kennyo’s been waiting for certain information before making his plan fully formed as he’s had a lot of things moving for a bit about Nobunaga’s position in the grand scheme of things. Seeing that come together and how he subverted Nobunaga is really fun.

In Summary:
Nobunaga’s faced a lot of challenges in his quest and Kennyo looks like he’s really going make it difficult for him through a couple of different avenues. I really liked how Chidori wondered how it all went so wrong so quickly and whether they were responsible for it but also getting the reminder about not upsetting Kennyo. The show has a lot of moving parts as we get these bite-sized bits of history with comedy and it succeeds more than it doesn’t, making for a fun show most of the time.
