Eleven Arts Planning ‘Liz to Aoi Tori’ Theatrical Anime Run

2 min read

Kyoto Animation brought out a new anime feature film this spring with Liz to Aoi Tori, which translates as Liz and the Bluebird, and now we’re seeing some of the international distribution elements. Eleven Arts announced at Anime Expo that they’ll be bringing out the film this fall with a planned November 2018 release. No details are ready beyond that at the moment but it is getting a screening at AX later today for those that want to get an early look.

Reiko Yoshida wrote the screenplay for it with Futoshi Nishiya on board handling the character designs.

Plot Concept:  The film focuses on flutist Nozomi Kasaki and oboist Mizore Yoroizuka, the characters that were also the focus of the Sound! Euphonium 2 anime’s first half. Both Nozomi and Mizore are in their final year of high school, and Nozomi has rejoined the band. The band’s new competition piece, “Liz and the Blue Bird,” has a flute and oboe duet, which requires both Nozomi and Mizore to be coordinated. But while both have been together since middle school, Mizore is uneasy at the thought of being separated from Nozomi once more at the end of the year, which begins to affect not just their music, but their relationship.
