We learned back in January about a sprawling new multimedia franchise with Bakutsuri Bar Hunter being in the works. At the time, the main site revealed that the property will span various areas with an anime and manga in the works as well as the game and toys. With a bunch of that already set some new details have filled in on the anime side. With plans for a full reveal on Saturday at the International Tokyo Toy Show, the TV anime adaptation is being slotted for a fall 2018 debut and a new visual was revealed for the property that Toei Animation is involved with.

The manga launched in Coro Coro Comics on March 15th while the toys began release a few days later.

Plot Concept: The barcodes on our personal belongings all have a “bar soul.” These unknown “bar soul” lifeforms live in the “barcode ocean.” And in this world, people can use a “Bakutsuri Bar Rod” fishing rod to fish for and collect the bar souls using augmented reality.
